Vintage 1940s suit from an amazing estate of vintage clothing. Marshall Field and Company 28 shop 1940s white rayon dress and jacket trimmed in fine wale black corduroy.
The 28 shop was a boutique created within the Marshall Field department store in Chicago in 1941. It was named for the boutique's private elevator entrance to the store on 28 E Washington Street. The shop had 28 dressing rooms and featured the finest designer clothing from the time.
This 2 piece rayon suit was purchased at the 28 shop in the 1940s. It is in excellent condition and includes a dress with original belt and side zipper with full skirt, and a short fitted blazer with black faceted glass buttons. The dress can be dressed up with jewelry for a night out or worn casually with the jacket out to lunch! The jacket has shoulder pads and is fully lined. Beautiful 40's ensemble!
